Why does a baby or child need Chiropractic?
The simple answer comes from drawing a connection between being proactive verses reactive.
The body undergoes physical trauma beginning with spinal distress that takes place during a baby’s development in the womb and continues through the birth process. Research shows that many newborns suffer micro-trauma during the birth process that slightly alters the position and movement of the bones in the spine, specifically the upper neck region.
We must also address the physical and chemical stressors that children may experience growing up. Kids today are now exposed to electronics, specifically tablets and phones on a daily basis. Furthermore, they are being introduced to them at a very young age, some by the first birthday! This excessive use over time can lead to the health condition Text Neck, the onset of cervical spinal degeneration resulting from the repeated stress of frequent forward head flexion while looking down at the screens of mobile devices.
Children are also very active and it is common for them to experience slips and falls just by normal daily activities. Some may play sports, thus increasing the risk of injuries, some as serious as concussions or a broken bone.
All of these stressors can create shifts in the spine and/or aggravate conditions already present. Left undetected and uncorrected, stress in the central nervous system & spine contributes to many unwanted symptoms. Chiropractic pursues the prevention of disease rather than a reactive decision to use drugs or surgery to treat children.

Research on Pediatric Chiropractic
Children under Chiropractic care report greater focus, function, and development! An early example of the connection between Chiropractic, the brain, and mental health took place in 1931. The Kentucky House of Reform presented a study involving a group of 244 adolescent boys who were incarcerated by the state because of criminal or behavioral problems. The boys received Chiropractic care during their rehabilitation period and these were the findings:
- Nearly 100 percent showed documented improvement in behavior and conduct
- 144 of the 244 patients improved to the point of being released from custody following a period of Chiropractic care
Natural Approaches to Health
One in every four children in the United States takes a prescription drug for a chronic condition. Hope for future generations begins with first recognizing the greatest doctor and pharmacy exists inside the body. Health strategies that respect and utilize the body’s innate healing power produce greater long-term results than a reliance on masking agents like pills and drugs.
Chiropractic offers the most effective form of natural health care available. Research from 2016 showed that Chiropractic adjustments changed the pre-frontal cortex in the brain. The pre-frontal cortex can be known as the “Executor” of your body. It takes responsibility for all executive functions including: Focus and control, Concentration, Learning ability, Personality development and mood.
The study showed that a Chiropractic adjustment improved function in the pre-frontal cortex by over 20 percent!
